Following doctor's orders is an important factor in disease prevention, health maintenance and recovery from illness.

But studies show that 50 percent of patients or more either don't take their medication at all or don't take it as prescribed. Many don't even fill the prescription. The track record for following recommended lifestyle changes -- diet, exercise, weight loss and smoking cessation -- is probably even worse.
