Picking Up Pace
After a 10-day layoff, United is in the midst of its busiest stretch of the season. Yesterday was the second of five games that will be played over 13 days, including trips to Chicago, Mexico and Kansas City.
Heady Experience
United co-managing partner Will Chang and Chivas president and owner Jorge Vergara, who met during the CONCACAF Champions Cup this spring, made a wager on the outcome of this two-game series. The stakes? The loser has to shave his head.
Numbers Game
Copa Sudamericana does not permit players to wear numbers over 25, which led United's Bobby Boswell, Bryan Namoff and Nicholas Addlery to introduce new uniforms last night. One player, however, looked perfectly familiar in his altered shirt. Forward Jaime Moreno spent his first seven years with United wearing No. 9. After he returned to the club in 2004 following a year in New York, Freddy Adu received his old number, so Moreno adopted 99. Last night was his first game wearing No. 9 since the trade.
