Foreclosures are up in Maryland and around the region, in part because of risky or bad loans. Below is a look at foreclosures in the state from 2005 through June 2007:

2005

5,141 homes

0.24 percent of households statewide in foreclosure

2006

4,522 homes

0.21 percent of households in foreclosure

1st quarter of 2007 (January, February and March)

2,031 homes

0.09 percent of households in foreclosure

2nd quarter of 2007 (April, May and June)

5,003 homes

0.22 percent of households in foreclosure
