Nuclear Plant Critics Fret Over Bridge
About 27,000 vehicles cross the Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge in Calvert County every day, and it has been ranked as "failing" during rush hour.

For three decades, residents in and around Lusby have lived next to Calvert Cliffs. The plant has had a good safety reputation among county officials, who are pushing for the new reactor because it would create jobs and tax revenue.
A few miles south of Calvert Cliffs sits another large energy facility, the Dominion Cove Point Liquefied Natural Gas plant, one of the nation's largest liquefied natural gas import facilities.
