MARYLAND LIGHTHOUSES: Go to http://www.cheslights.org-- the Web site of the Chesapeake chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society -- for info on the state's beacons, including historical data, news and links. If you want to replicate this year's Lighthouse Challenge (note that some may be closed for the season and, alas, you won't get those nifty magnets), check out http://www.cheslights.org/challenge.htm. You can print out the brochure and follow the map.

NEW JERSEY LIGHTHOUSE CHALLENGE: The event will be held Saturday and Sunday; several of the 11 lighthouses included will allow participants to climb at night. Like the Maryland Challenge, there's no need to register. Details: http://www.njlhs.org/challenge/challenge.html.
