BWI Traffic High in August

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport had its second-busiest month ever in August, when 2,058,884 commercial airline passengers went through the airport, an airport spokesman said. The figure was 7 percent higher than the total for August 2006. The busiest month at BWI was August 2001.

More Service to Montreal

United Airlines has indicated it will add a third flight from Dulles International Airport to Montreal--Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport starting Feb. 13, according to a spokesman for Air Canada, which partners with United in the Star Alliance.

Funds to Boost Security

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has awarded $52.3 million in contracts to enhance security technology at U.S. airports.

The equipment, which includes bottled-liquid scanners, devices to screen casts and prosthetics, and automated explosive detection, was used earlier this year at several airports, including Reagan National.
