PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY

Teen Sentenced to 50 Years in 2006 Slaying

A Clinton teenager who admitted to fatally shooting a young man last year was sentenced in Prince George's Circuit Court yesterday to 50 years in prison, State's Attorney Glenn F. Ivey (D) said.

On Aug. 28, Darenzo Nettles, 18, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and a handgun violation in the Oct. 9, 2006, shooting of Gary Crisp Jr., 20, also of Clinton, prosecutors said. Nettles and Crisp were members of two groups from the same neighborhood that had been feuding, prosecutors said.

Judge Ronald D. Schiff sentenced Nettles to 30 years for the murder and 20 years for the handgun violation and ordered that the sentences be served consecutively, prosecutors said.
