With a little more than five months before the grand opening of Nationals Park, a number of Talkbackers -- as well as members of the aging "Baseball Gang" -- already are roaming the streets around the Southeast stadium looking for a parking spot. My gang seems destined for RFK Stadium lots and free shuttle buses or the Metro.

By the way, how come the Red Sox sell out every game at Fenway Park with so little parking available?

Too bad that [Post reporter] Dave Sheinin didn't have the advantage of TV replay in Game 7 of the ALCS that showed the really great fifth-inning defensive gem by Manny Ramirez. Ramirez played Kenny Lofton's drive off the left field Green Monster perfectly: one bounce, whirl and throw a strike to second base where Dustin Pedroia made a sweeping dust-off tag off the face-first slide by Lofton.

But the replays clearly showed Lofton's left hand on the bag before the slightly elevated tag to Lofton's head. The umpire made the correct call from his position. What might have been a big Cleveland inning was not. Now, you may think I am an advocate of introducing instant replay to baseball. I am not. Games are too long as it is.

Ed Anania, Silver Spring

Sheinin did see the replay but the umpire did not, or we still might be in extra innings.

I have not listened to the Redskins on radio since they tossed Frank Herzog. Still don't watch Channel 7 news since Renee Poussaint revealed that the U.S. beat the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympic hockey game before they showed the tape delay.

Bobby Brendler, Rockville

Bobby, it's been 27 years since Channel 7 ruined your Olympic moment. In the words of my favorite mayor: "Get over it."
