Regarding the motion for an injunction to stop the sale of the Maier Museum's artwork for general fund purposes, I hope the Lynchburg Circuit Court grants the injunction right away ["Foes of Randolph College Art Sale Go to Court," Style, Oct. 24].

If the sale of art is allowed to go forward, the college will become a pariah of the art world, compromise its ability to fulfill its educational mission and alienate thousands of donors by proving that the people in charge of the college have no regard for donor intent. If the sale is allowed to stand, it could also compromise the solicitation of major gifts by other charitable institutions in Virginia and other states.

As a former trustee of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, now Randolph College, all I can say is: What could they possibly be thinking?
