GETTING THERE: Bedford, Va., is about four hours from the Beltway. Take I-66 west to the U.S. 29 south exit at Gainesville. Follow 29 (not Business 29, never Business 29) all the way to Lynchburg. After you cross the James River, take the exit for U.S. 460 west and follow it into Bedford.
