Kidd Offers Arenas (K)needed Advice
Saturday, November 10, 2007
During a conversation that took place on the court following Thursday night's game in New Jersey, Nets star Jason Kidd encouraged Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas to monitor his minutes while playing on his surgically repaired left knee. Kidd also provided Arenas with the phone number of the doctor who handled his own knee surgery two years ago.[an error occurred while processing this directive]
"It was just a Hall of Famer giving some advice," Arenas said of the conversation. "You have to listen to that."
On Wednesday morning Arenas had the knee drained of excess fluid for the second time since Oct. 17 and has complained of occasional stiffness in the knee since the preseason.
He started last night against Denver after playing more than 42 minutes on Thursday. Before the game, Coach Eddie Jordan said he had no definitive plan for monitoring Arenas's minutes.
"I expect him to start and we'll see about the minutes," Jordan said. "He doesn't like to sit down. He's like one of the great ones. He doesn't like to sit down. And with his injury, whether it's in his mind or in his knee for real, he does stiffen up [when he sits] so we keep him on the floor."
Friday Rush Slows Nuggets Stars
Several Denver players, including starters Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin, got stuck in traffic after taking the second of two available buses from the team hotel. The bus arrived approximately 45 minutes before tip-off.
