Traffic was temporarily halted at Union Station this afternoon as Amtrak Police investigated a report of a suspicious package near Gate A in Union Station.
The report came in around 3:15 p.m. and tracks 7 through 16 were closed while authorities investigated, said Amtrak spokesman Tracy Connell. Trains on other tracks were able to continue their regular service. The package was found to be benign, and regular service had resumed by 4 p.m., according to Amtrak spokesman Karina Moreno.
Four trains that regularly depart between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. were delayed, Karina said, but no residual delays were anticipated.
