Herndon Man Fatally Hit by Car

A Herndon man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Centreville in an apparent late-night hit-and-run incident, Fairfax County police said yesterday.

Jeremy Brader, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene after police responded to a report at 2:30 a.m. of a body in the 7000 block of Ordway Road near Compton Road. A family friend said Brader was a graduate of Herndon High School.

Police said that Brader's body was found in "an unlit area" and that he was dressed in black. Anyone who might have seen him or the accident is asked to call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS.

Charges in Thanksgiving Fire

Montgomery County fire and explosives investigators have arrested a Prince George's County woman on attempted murder charges in connection with a fire Thanksgiving morning in Gaithersburg, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said.

Krystal Wilcox, 22, of Clinton was arrested Friday for allegedly throwing an incendiary device through a former boyfriend's apartment window on Crestwood Drive at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, said fire and rescue service spokesman Pete Piringer. The previous day, Wilcox allegedly entered through the same window and attacked him with a box cutter, Piringer said.

No one was injured in either incident, but the fire caused about $10,000 in damage and temporarily displaced dozens of residents. Wilcox has been charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree arson and other offenses, Piringer said.
