GW Crushes Western Kentucky to Wrap Up Thanksgiving Classic

Jessica Adair had 23 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 17 George Washington to an 80-63 victory over Western Kentucky in the finale of the GW Thanksgiving Classic yesterday.

Tournament MVP Kimberly Beck had 18 points and 12 assists for the Colonials (5-1), who have won two straight since losing, 67-42, to No. 7 Rutgers. Sarah-Jo Lawrence added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Crystal Kelly led Western Kentucky (4-2) with 30 points on 9-of-15 shooting and added five rebounds.

The Colonials, who played without two starters, took control with a 14-2 run early in the second half. Antelia Parrish, George Washington's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, missed the game with a sprained left ankle suffered in Friday's game. Whitney Allen missed her second straight game with a broken left ring finger.

Lawrence, a senior, became the 24th member of George Washington's 1,000-point club with a jumper that gave the Colonials a 22-21 lead with 8 minutes 39 seconds remaining in the first half.

¿ VIRGINIA 73, MINNESOTA 62: Lyndra Littles led all scorers with 18 points and the Cavaliers sent the Golden Gophers to their first loss of the season in the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu.

Monica Wright and Paulisha Kellum added 17 and 16 for Virginia (4-2). Minnesota (6-1) will play in the third-place game today against the loser of Hartford-Hawaii. Ashley Ellis-Milan led the Gophers with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

¿ VIRGINIA TECH 74, PRAIR I E VIEW A&M 66: Laura Haskins hit a long three-pointer at the halftime buzzer and finished with 14 points, leading a balanced effort that carried the Hokies in the Freeport (Bahamas) Division's consolation round at the Junkanoo Jam.

All five starters scored in double figures for Virginia Tech (4-1).

Andrea Barbour scored 13 points, Amber Hall and Brittany Cook each finished with 12 and Utahya Drye added 10 for the Hokies, with Haskins also getting a game-high six assists.

Dominique Smith led all scorers with 16 points for the Panthers (1-6). Shavonne Smith added 15 for Prairie View A&M, and Gatti Werema finished with 13. Werema was the only starter in double figures for Coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke's club.

Virginia Tech led 42-36 after a back-and-forth first half, which ended with Haskins being credited with a 35-foot three-pointer at the buzzer.
