Turnovers continued to plague the Redskins, with Campbell losing the ball after getting hit while looking to throw. White forced the fumble, and Tampa Bay recovered at the Redskins 18. Coach Joe Gibbs challenged the ruling on field, but officials upheld the call. The Buccaneers moved to the 9, but on third down and one, Washington stuffed Graham for no gain and forced a 27-yard Bryant field goal. On the Redskins' ensuing possession, Portis fumbled for the second time, and Tampa Bay recovered at the Washington 32. Again the Redskins held, and Tampa Bay had to settle for a 48-yard Bryant field goal.
