A 51-year-old Silver Spring woman was abducted in the parking lot of the Westfield Wheaton mall and later robbed Thursday afternoon, Montgomery County police said.
Two men approached the woman about 1 p.m. outside the mall, at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd. in Wheaton. One of the assailants wore a coat and tie, carried a briefcase and implied that he had a gun, police said. They forced her into their vehicle, a white Lexus SUV, police said.
The men drove the woman to several banks and twice forced her to withdraw cash using her credit card, police said. They let her go at a Chevy Chase Bank on Georgia Avenue and drove off.
The woman, whom police did not identify, told authorities that the men were both dark-skinned and in their 50s. She described one as being about 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. She said he carried a briefcase and was cleanshaven and well dressed in a tie, black trench coat and black brimmed hat.
The woman described the other man as about six feet tall, heavyset and cleanshaven. She told police he was wearing a Baltimore Ravens jersey and a black jacket.
Montgomery police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 240-773-5530.
