Campbell and Sean Taylor, who died of a gunshot wound Tuesday in Miami, were "like brothers," Campbell said. Preparing for Buffalo was difficult for Campbell.
"You try to get back into a routine, but it's still tough," Campbell said. "It's still in the back of your mind the whole time. You try to be passionate about the season and go out and give it your all. Sean was . . . real passionate about everything that he did."
The Redskins and Bills have much in common, Campbell said. And he admires how Buffalo banded together after Kevin Everett's spinal-cord injury in its opener.
"Buffalo is a team kind of like us," Campbell said. "They've lost a lot of close games that could have went their way. They've been having a lot of injuries this season just like us. A lot of stuff has happened to them . . . but they stayed together and just kept fighting. Both of us are 5-6, and we're still trying to fight to stay in the playoff hunt."
The Bills have given up the fourth-most passing yards in the league and are 31st (out of 32 teams) in total defense. But statistics rarely tell the whole story, Campbell said.
"They keep coming the whole game," he said. "When you see that, you know guys are going to give it everything that they have, so you have to have that same attitude as an offense."
