The death toll was expected to keep rising, said Sam Zaramba, director general of Uganda's health services. But he added that "this strain of Ebola seems less virulent than ones we have seen in the past so we are encouraged and think we are on top of the situation."

There is no cure or treatment for Ebola, which typically kills most of those it strikes.

Palestinian Gunman Killed

A Palestinian gunman was killed and at least two others were wounded by an Israeli missile strike in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, militant sources and medics said. An official from the radical Islamic Jihad organization said the man killed was a member of their group.

Koreas Start Cargo Train Service

The first cargo train in more than a half-century to provide regular service across the border between the two Koreas left Tuesday for the North. The 12-car train is to carry construction materials through the demilitarized zone to the city of Kaesong, where the two countries operate an industrial complex.
