The Giants lead the league with 47 sacks. Defensive ends Osi Umenyiora, Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck are among the NFL's best at applying pressure.
"Those guys are tops in the league," Collins said. "Those two bookends on each side have been playing well for a number of years. It is going to be a challenge for our protection unit in getting the ball off. We have to block them up and get the ball off."
Collins, primarily a backup throughout his 13-year career, was selected as the NFC player of the week after his strong performance in relief against Chicago.
"It's crazy," Collins said. "That is why you have to be consistent in your preparation. When my number was called, I was able to go out there. The team played great. The guys responded well to me, and we were able to move the football and get a win."
The Redskins must leapfrog Minnesota and New Orleans to secure an NFC wild-card berth. Collins said a strong performance against the Giants would inspire confidence.
"It's going to be a tough game, but I like the guys on the team," he said. "Our record hasn't been the best, we have lost a lot of games at the end and we're not perfect. We'll make some mistakes, but in terms of effort, that has been outstanding. Just keep it up."
