8,500 jobs will come when the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency moves into a new $1.2 billion headquarters being built at the Engineer Proving Ground. The jobs are now spread among offices in Bethesda, Fairfax County and the Washington Navy Yard.
6,200 jobs from Washington Headquarters Services, most of which are now in Arlington County, will come to one of seven sites. These include a General Services Administration warehouse in Springfield and private sites in Alexandria, Quantico and Manassas Park.
2,100 jobs will come to the main post after Walter Reed Army Medical Center closes to operate a new $747 million hospital being built on the golf course.
300 jobs from the Defense Department's Missile Agency will move from Arlington to a new building at the main post.
500 jobs from the Program Executive Office of Enterprise Information Systems will move from Fort Monmouth, N.J., to existing buildings at the main post.
4,200 jobs from various Army agencies will move from leased space primarily in Rosslyn and Crystal City into existing buildings at the main post.
2,500 jobs will leave for other locations across the nation.
4,300 jobs will come when the Defense Information Systems Agency moves into a $348 million headquarters. The agency now has offices in Falls Church and Arlington.
600 jobs will come with a newly created agency, the Defense Media Activity, combining Army, Navy and Air Force media organizations in Anacostia, Crystal City and Fort Belvoir.
900 jobs will come with the consolidation of Defense Department legal adjudication offices across the country.
10,000 defense contractor jobs could come in a building on land leased from the Army post. The Army is negotiating with Trammell Crow to allow the Dallas-based developer to build an administrative headquarters and two 18-hole golf courses on the leased land.
NATIONAL NAVAL MEDICAL CENTER
2,200 to 2,500 jobs will come after Walter Reed closes to create the nation's flagship military hospital on the Bethesda campus.
The Navy plans to add new and renovated space to provide additional medical care, a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder center, lodging for workers and visiting families, a new fitness center, additional parking and road improvements on the base.
