The Redskins extended their lead to 22-3 when Portis scored on a five-yard run to cap their first possession of the second half. Washington went for the two-point conversion, but Collins threw incomplete. The Redskins began the drive at the Giants 46 after a 15-yard penalty against New York on the kickoff. Chris Cooley caught a 15-yard pass during the drive, and Mike Sellers had a 19-yard reception. On the Giants' second possession of the quarter, Eli Manning completed a 19-yard touchdown pass over the middle to backup tight end Kevin Boss, who was playing for the injured Jeremy Shockey.
