The Giants had a chance to trim the lead to nine points early in the quarter, but Tynes missed a 38-yard field goal wide left. The Redskins were unable to get points on their ensuing possession, and the Giants took over at their 27. New York worked from a no huddle and drove to the Redskins 20 after tailback Brandon Jacobs ran for five yards on second and 10. From there Manning threw incomplete over the middle to Amani Toomer, and on fourth down failed to complete a throw to backup running back Reuben Droughns. The drive lasted 15 plays and used more than four minutes but resulted in no points.
