The University of Maryland School of Law received a $50,000 donation from the Baltimore firm Rifkin, Livingston, Levitan & Silver to establish an annual law and public service scholarship.

The scholarship, to be named for one of the firm's founding members, former Baltimore Circuit Court judge Edgar P. Silver, will be awarded to a third-year law student planning a career in public service. Law school Dean Karen H. Rothenberg will head the committee that will make the selection each year.
