"Hopefully I can get some rest, get some treatment and go," Butler said. "I definitely wanted to be out there. I tried to give it a shot, but it was just too painful."

The Wizards could have used their leading active scorer and third-leading rebounder Saturday night. The Pacers seized control with a 9-1 second-period run that was as much a product of Washington's cold shooting as Indiana's excellence.

The Wizards trailed by 11 after scoring a season-low 34 first-half points on 35.1 percent shooting. Rush did most of the damage for Indiana, scoring 12 first-half points on 5-of-7 shooting. He closed the half by scoring Indiana's final 11 points.

Mason's strong performance capped an emotional day.

The Wheaton native and former Virginia star did not fly with the team to Indianapolis following Friday night's home loss to Atlanta so he could attend the funeral of his grandfather, Frank Mason, on Saturday morning. He flew in Saturday afternoon, met the team in time for warmups and then went out and played one of his best games as a pro.

"I wasn't sure if I was going to play," Mason said. "My teammates let me know it was okay, so I went out and did for my grandfather."

Wizards Notes: The teams will meet once more this season, April 14 at Verizon Center. . . . The Wizards wore their black and gold uniforms for the seventh time this season.
