This is a sample of some of the documents associated with one of the most expensive trips taken by W. Richard West Jr., the director of the National Museum of the American Indian. In June, 2005, West took a 15-day trip to Greece, Peru and Australia. He said that he paid for his travel to Greece when his event in Athens was canceled. But the Smithsonian paid for the rest of the $20,000 trip.
