Antonio Daniels, who has been out since spraining a ligament in his right knee during a win at Miami on Nov. 13, went through some drills before last night's game against the Heat at Verizon Center, but he did not play.
Daniels originally was given a two- to four-week timetable to return. The good news is that because the Wizards do not play again until Wednesday night, when they host Detroit, Daniels will have three more days to gain strength in the knee and work on conditioning.
"That was the main thing, just getting my wind back," said Daniels, who went through his first practice on Thursday. "The knee feels good."
The Wizards went 9-5 with Daniels as a starter and were 2-4 without him going into last night's game.
Riley's Refreshing Candor
When it comes to providing information on injuries or potential roster moves, NBA coaches and general managers tend to hold back as much as possible. So it was refreshing when Miami Heat President and Coach Pat Riley acknowledged that the team is trying to trade guard Smush Parker.
Parker has been on the outs with Riley since Nov. 27, when he had a bizarre altercation with a valet attendant in which he allegedly grabbed and twisted her arm in trying to retrieve his car keys. He's been inactive ever since.
"I'm going to be very honest with you," Riley told reporters. "We've been trying to trade him, so if it doesn't work, he comes back and plays."
