Man Is Killed During String of Stabbings

4 People Hurt in 2 Other Incidents

Fairfax County police are investigating a string of stabbings, one of which was fatal, late Monday and early yesterday.

At 11:15 p.m. Monday, a man was found bleeding from wounds to the upper body about 20 feet from an apartment building in the 6000 block of Knollwood Drive in the Falls Church area, police said. He was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 1 a.m. yesterday, the county's first homicide of 2008.

Police had not identified the victim last night and had made no arrests.

About 3 a.m. yesterday in the Franconia area, three people were stabbed. One of the victims, a man, was wounded in the upper body after being denied entry to a party in the 5900 block of Clames Drive, police said. He was taken to Inova Fairfax, where he underwent surgery. His condition was not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

During that altercation, a man and a woman also were stabbed, one in a hand and the other in an arm. Police said their injuries were not considered serious.

It was not clear whether the man and woman were also trying to enter the party or were inside, police said.

Also early yesterday, a man was stabbed near Glade and Marginella drives in Reston.

The three incidents were not related, police said.
