These were among incidents reported recently by the Metropolitan Police Department. For information, call the police district station.



DECATUR ST.,800 block, 12:30 a.m. Dec. 22. Michael R. Dempsey, 20, of the 800 block of Decatur Street, was found in a parked car with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the medical examiner's office, where he was pronounced dead.

TRINIDAD AVE.,1700 block, 3 a.m. Dec. 22. Jerry Phelps, 33, was found dead at home with a gunshot wound to the head. Police officials said the body might have been there for several days. The body was taken to the medical examiner's office.


BERRY RD.,3100 block, 8:50 to 8:51 p.m. Dec. 20. A man approached a female and demanded her bag. He pushed her to the ground, took the bag and fled on foot on Bannekar Drive toward Blandensburg Road NE.

BLADENSBURG RD.,1700 block, 4:45 to 4:50 p.m. Dec. 15. A man offered to help a man get his car out of an impoundment lot and then snatched property from his hands and fled.

BRENTWOOD RD.,900 block, 1:30 to 1:34 a.m. Dec. 15. Three males robbed a pedestrian at gunpoint of a duffel bag and a bag containing shoes.

FLORIDA AVE., unit block, 10:30 p.m. Dec. 15. Two men approached a service station customer at a gas pump. One held a gun and took the customer's wallet. The robbers fled in a vehicle driven by a third man.

GRANT ST.,4100 block, 9:30 to 9:35 p.m. Dec. 19. A group of male youths approached two female pedestrians. One youth demanded money. One of the pedestrians was pushed to the ground and robbed of her purse. The other pedestrian was hit in the back of the head with a piece of wood when she tried to run away. The youths fled on foot.

I ST.,1200 block, 6:50 to 6:55 p.m. Dec. 14. Two males threatened a pedestrian at gunpoint and robbed him of a wallet. One of the robbers fired the gun while fleeing. No injuries were reported.

M ST.,100 block, 11:32 to 11:33 p.m. Dec. 16. A pedestrian was leaving a bus station. A male got out of a truck, hit the pedestrian in the face and demanded money. The pedestrian was robbed of a bag, credit cards and a bank card. The robber fled in the truck.
