Maryland inside linebacker Erin Henderson has declared his intention to enter the NFL draft. Henderson, who was named a preseason All-American, a Butkus Award semifinalist and, for the second straight season, an all-ACC pick, ended weeks of speculation regarding his future with the announcement.
Henderson, a junior, led the Terrapins this season in total tackles (133), tackles for a loss (11) and fumble recoveries (4). He did all this while playing through injuries which forced him to miss a game of Maryland's 6-7 campaign.
"After discussing the matter with my family in recent days, we felt like the time was right to take the next step in my playing career," Henderson said in a statement. "It was a difficult decision because I enjoyed my days at Maryland and playing in the college environment. I will certainly miss my teammates and coaches, but will always be a Terp."
Henderson will join his older brother E.J. in the NFL. E.J. Henderson just completed his fifth season with the Minnesota Vikings after four years at Maryland.
