Bill Cowher
CBS pregame show analyst who won a Super Bowl with the Steelers. Owner Daniel Snyder loves the big-name, big-money free agent and no name is bigger or potentially more moneyed than Cowher's.
Gregg Williams
Redskins assistant head coach-defense. A players favorite, but did ownership sour on him after the 2006 defensive tumble? Has three years head coaching experience with Buffalo.
Russ Grimm
Cardinals assistant head coach-offensive line. Sources close to Grimm believe the Redskins will pick a higher-profile candidate, but he has that Hogs pedigree.
Rooney Rule
Teams are required to interview a minority candidate. For the Redskins, that could mean former coach Dennis Green, the 49ers' Mike Singletary, the Colts' Jim Caldwell, the Vikings' Leslie Frazier and the Falcons' Hue Jackson (a former Redskins staff member).
Wild Cards
Could the Redskins pull a surprise and go with USC Coach Pete Carroll, ex-Ravens coach Brian Billick, Marty Schottenheimer or a long-shot coach?
