Rep. Wynn Endorses Obama for President

U.S. Rep. Albert R. Wynn (D-Md.) endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president yesterday. Wynn, an eight-term congressman whose district includes most of Prince George's and part of Montgomery counties, said in a statement that Obama "brings a positive energy, a new vision and has the political courage to bring about the change this country so desperately needs on the Presidential level."

Wynn called the Democratic field seeking the presidential nomination this year "an exceptional group of very talented individuals." But he said he believes Obama is in the best position to bring about "real change."

Wynn faces a tough reelection battle, with five Democratic challengers on the Feb. 12 primary ballot, including Prince George's activist Donna F. Edwards. Edwards came within three percentage points of defeating Wynn in 2006.
