Two Men Guilty in Drug Case

A federal jury in Washington has convicted two Maryland men of running a large narcotics conspiracy that helped ship hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Mexican drug cartels to the District.

Yesterday, the jury found Lawrence Maynard, 46, of Hyattsville guilty of helping operate the drug supply network from 2003 to 2005. The jury had found Antoine Jones, 47, of Waldorf guilty of conspiracy and drug charges Thursday.

It was a retrial of a case that stemmed from a sophisticated federal narcotics task force investigation and ended in a mistrial last year. Jones faces mandatory life imprisonment, and Maynard faces as much as 40 years in prison. They are to be sentenced in April.
