The victim, whose name and age were not released, was taken by helicopter to a hospital, said Officer Henry Tippett, a police spokesman. The victim's condition was not available, Tippett said.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the 4900 block of Indian Head Highway, Tippett said. Three men entered the store, and one shot the manager once in the upper body, he said. The men took money from the cash register and fled, he said.

Nightclub Damaged by Intentionally Set Fire

A fire that damaged a nightclub yesterday in Bladensburg was set deliberately, authorities said.

The blaze broke out about 6 a.m. at the Iron Castle Lounge in the 5400 block of Annapolis Road, said Mark Brady, a spokesman for the Prince George's County fire department. Damage was estimated at $50,000, he said.

The club was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no one was injured, Brady said. He said the fire was set by an incendiary device but would not elaborate, citing the investigation.
