New Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Jim Zorn plans to run the West Coast offense next season, but "I really believe in a balanced attack," he said yesterday in one of his first interviews.
Each West Coast offense has its "own unique flavor," he said. "What I would most like to bring is this West Coast . . . background and then attach some of the ideas that I brought to Seattle and some of the influences of others that were already here when I came."
Zorn then praised the team's running tradition and said one of the reasons he took the job was the opportunity to work with young quarterback Jason Campbell.
Zorn declined to discuss the head coaching search because "I really don't know what's going to happen."
Redskins Note: Linebackers coach Kirk Olivadotti, whose contract would have expired this week, has signed an extension, league sources said.
