Arbors Is Wooded Refuge On Fast Road to BWI, D.C.

The Arbors at Arundel Preserve, a 496-unit, four-story complex of eight apartment buildings less than a mile from Arundel Mills mall, has an array of amenities in a suburban setting.

And soon there will be more services, stores and restaurants next door: The adjacent construction site will become a retail complex, scheduled for completion this year.

The location suits residents who are looking for 10-minute drive to Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport, a five-minute commute to Fort Meade or quick access to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway or Route 100.

"Location and proximity to work was my number one criterion," said new resident Jim Zanoli, who works at Fort Meade. "I just made the decision that there is no reason for me to live more than a few miles from work."

"The location is fabulous," resident Joey Richards said. "My work takes me to Virginia, Baltimore and D.C."

Besides the location near work and family, the space for walking her dog "was also a selling point for me," Richards said.

Many Arbors residents have pets, especially small and medium-size dogs, said property manager Maureen Haberern. "It's very pet-friendly," said Richards, whose King Charles spaniel, Piper, enjoys running outdoors. There are a number of small green spaces as well as seven pet stations on the grounds.

Although there is little to walk to near the property, the complex sits across from a wooded area, and a wide sidewalk stretches down Arundel Mills Boulevard toward the mall so residents can walk, run or bike.

"I can walk all around on the sidewalks," Richards said.

The street bordering the property on one side, Dorchester Boulevard, leads to an adjacent community of townhouses and single-family houses called Villages at Dorchester.

Construction at Arbors began in 2005 and wrapped up in December, according to Haberern, the manager.

Development, construction and property management are all being handled by Bozzuto Group.
