Any recommendations for a place to stay in Jodhpur, India? I would like to stay in the city center, but it seems those places don't get good reviews.

Jodhpur is the second-largest city in India's Rajasthan state, and accommodations are plentiful. But be wary. Allyson McInnis, an India consultant at Delaware-based Kensington Tours, says to avoid lodgings rated below three stars; lower-ranked properties are often dirty and noisy. So, if you're a light sleeper, consider quieter lodgings on the outskirts of town.

McInnis's recommendations include Hotel Ummeid ( http://www.hoteltheummeid.com), Taj Hari Mahal ( http://www.tajhotels.com) and the deluxe Umaid Bhawan Palace (also reachable at http://www.tajhotels.com). Rates range from $115 to $888 a night. The Ministry of Tourism's Web site ( http://www.incredibleindia.org) also lists accommodations.
