An unrequited passion. A spectacular breakup. A tryst with destiny. We sent the accompanying photographs to some of our favorite writers, and the charge was simple: Write a love story in response to the image. The collective results run the gamut of romantic love, unfolding from the barren highways of Nevada to the snowy streets of Chicago to a most unusual clinic near Paris.
