An Ess-Turn for the Worse

Saturday, February 9, 2008

I was interested to read the Feb. 2 Free for All letter criticizing The Post for using the word "actress" in its story on the Screen Actors Guild awards.

The feminists' unisex assault on the English language includes abolishing the feminine ending on words like waitress, stewardess and postmistress. Apparently it even extends to animals, because I noticed The Post used the term "female lion" [Style, Nov. 3, 2006], avoiding the word "lioness."

What can they do about "princess" and duchess"?
