Following its competitors, Restoration Hardware is developing a line of home furnishings for babies and children that will be available in May, a company spokeswoman said.

Restoration Hardware Baby & Child will have its own catalogue and Web site, and by November the rugs, bedding, baby clothes, furniture and other home accessories will be available in three Restoration Hardware stores, Stephanie Kendall said. The line is slated to expand to about 20 stores by 2009. Kendall said Washington area customers will eventually see the line at the Tysons Corner store, but not the smaller Georgetown location.

Kendall characterized the prices as being somewhat higher than similar merchandise from Land of Nod, which is owned by Crate and Barrel, and Pottery Barn Kids, but lower than what custom furnishings cost.
