DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania -- President Bush, on a five-nation visit to Africa, challenged Congress on Sunday to renew his global AIDS program.

With backing from Congress, Bush is behind an emergency HIV/AIDS response that is the largest in history to target an infectious disease. It is up for review this year, and Bush is trying to double its size _ from the commitment of $15 billion already spent to $30 billion to be spent over the next five years.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam (Dar-Es-Sah-LAM), the capital of Tanzania, Bush said he doesn't want Africans left guessing whether the generosity of the American people will continue.
