Several street races across the U.S. with multiple fatalities:
May 11, 2003: Three men were killed when their Toyota Celica hit a utility pole after a race with another car on University Boulevard in Silver Spring.
Jan. 27, 1999: Three teenagers racing against friends after school were killed when their car crossed into the path of a U-Haul truck in Lusby in Calvert County. The driver of the truck died of his injuries several weeks later.
Nov. 30, 1996: A car racing on an interstate in Baker, Calif., broke through the center barrier and struck an oncoming car, killing a total of six in both cars.
Oct. 11, 1993: Two spectators were killed in Miami when two cars collided and slid into a crowd.
July 31, 1988: Six people were killed when their car went airborne and crashed into a utility pole in Marion, Ind.
