SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 17 -- Former first lady Nancy Reagan was hospitalized Sunday after falling in her home but is doing well, her spokeswoman said.

Reagan, 86, was taken to St. John's Health Center, where doctors determined that she did not break a hip as feared, spokeswoman Joanne Drake said. Reagan's family physician recommended an overnight stay "as a precaution," Drake said.

Reagan's last major public appearance was on Jan. 30, at the Republican presidential debate at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
