My colleague Shani George was looking for an edge in a "Biggest Loser" competition.

The object: To see which of her office mates trying to shed weight could lose the most. What better way than to go to the source?

I had review copies available of two DVDs: "Biggest Loser: Cardio Max" and the companion "Power Sculpt" program, and Shani has put them through the paces for the past couple of weeks. She reports:

The program: "A variety of lunges, squats and leg lifts, jumping rope between exercises, shadow boxing and more."

Duration: 40 to 50 minutes, including warm-up and cool-down.

Intensity: Shani cranked it up to "maximum results," alternating between the two DVDs for about four sessions a week. After eight months of not exercising, she says, her "glutes and thighs were sore after the first couple of days."

Results: "No weight loss yet, but my legs are definitely toning."

Fun factor: "The background music sounded like a loop of a television show theme song, but once I got my heart pumping, I just tuned it out."
