Mrs. Chlon was a volunteer with the Junior League, the Children's Healthcare Network and her churches. She spearheaded local efforts in 2005 to assist displaced Hurricane Katrina victims.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Michael Chlon of Norcross; two children, Whitney Chlon of Austin and Andrew Chlon of Jackson, Miss.; her father, Gene Fairman of Arlington; and two brothers, Jerry Fairman of Annandale and Larry Fairman of Palm Harbor, Fla.

Thomas Edward BerryBudget Analyst

Thomas Edward Berry, 93, a former budget analyst with the federal government, died Jan. 27 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring. He had Alzheimer's disease.

Mr. Berry, an Adelphi resident, worked for the Labor Department and the old Social Security Board. For 29 years, he worked for the old Bureau of the Budget, from which he retired in 1978.

A native Washingtonian, Mr. Berry graduated from Central High School and attended New York University. He graduated from George Washington University and went to work for the government in 1936.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rock Creek Parish, where he held a variety of positions, including senior warden. He also served on the cemetery committee for Rock Creek Cemetery, which is run by the church.

He was interested in science and astronomy, domestic travel and coin and stamp collecting. He was a member of the American Hospital Association and the American Cemetery Association.

He moved to California, Md., in 2001 and to Adelphi in 2007.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Mitchell Berry of Adelphi; three children, Thomas W. Berry of Hyattsville, Marjorie Grimsley of Denver and Aouicha Hilliard of Richmond; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
