Sen. John McCain has applied for three loans in recent months from Fidelity & Trust Bank in Bethesda -- two to help his cash-strapped presidential campaign make it to the Iowa caucuses, and a third just before Super Tuesday. The bank approved all three, but McCain did not complete the last loan after the Feb. 5 results gave him command of the GOP race.

LOAN 1

Amount: $2.997 million line of credit.

Completed: Nov. 14.

Campaign's estimated operating balance that week: Negative $3.98 million.

LOAN 2

Amount: $1 million line of credit.

Completed: Dec. 17.

Campaign's estimated balance that week: Negative $3.55 million.

LOAN 3

Amount: $1 million line of credit.

Approved: Jan. 28.
