JMU Holds Court in Upset

Dawn Evans scored 19 points to help James Madison beat No. 11 Old Dominion, 76-63, yesterday in Harrisonburg, Va., ending the Lady Monarchs' 19-game winning streak.
It was the first conference loss for the Lady Monarchs (26-4, 16-1 Colonial Athletic Association) this season. Old Dominion last lost to Tennessee on Dec. 5.
Trailing 26-20 at the break, Old Dominion took the lead three times in the opening minutes of the second half, leading by three points on a free throw by Jazzmin Walters.
Jasmin Lawrence made a layup and the Dukes (20-8, 13-4) regained the lead, 36-35. The teams traded baskets before Sierra Little made a jumper to put the Lady Monarchs ahead for the final time, 49-48 with 9 minutes 9 seconds left.
JMU used a 14-7 spurt in the last 2:49 to pull away. Tamera Young had 14 points for the Dukes and Kisha Stokes had 12.
¿ MARYLAND 76, N.C. STATE 64: Laura Harper scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Crystal Langhorne had 20 points to lift the No. 5 Terrapins past the Wolfpack in Raleigh, N.C.
Marissa Coleman added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Maryland (29-2, 13-1 ACC), which took control early with an 11-0 run en route to its seventh consecutive victory.
Harper capped Maryland's early spurt with a putback, giving her team a 21-12 lead with 10:56 remaining in the first half. The Terrapins stretched their lead to 36-18 with 3:54 left as the Wolfpack (18-11, 6-8) went scoreless for more than five minutes.
Nikitta Gartrell scored 19 points for N.C. State, which suffered its fourth consecutive loss to the Terrapins, and Shayla Fields added 17 points. Khadijah Whittington tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds in the final regular season home game of her career for the Wolfpack, which failed to finish at least .500 in conference play for the first time since 2002-03.
¿ VIRGINIA 103, GEORGIA TECH 101: Monica Wright scored a career-high 28 points and hit the game-winning shot with less than three seconds left in the second overtime to lift the Cavaliers over the Yellow Jackets in Charlottesville. Lyndra Littles led Virginia (22-8, 10-4 ACC), which trailed 50-35 at halftime, with a career-high 31 points.
