After the tax office embezzlement scandal, six teams of auditors and investigators are examining the District's Office of the Chief Financial Officer, not including the internal auditors assisting each of the teams. Agencies and firms involved are:
The U.S. attorney's office: Conducting criminal investigation into the tax office scandal.
The D.C. inspector general's office: Reviewing causes of the breakdown.
Kroll: Hired by Gandhi and his new advisory board to review department structures and internal controls.
Wilmer Hale: Hired by the D.C. Council to conduct a broad review of Gandhi's office.
Deloitte Touche and Ernst & Young: Working together at Gandhi's request to probe for weaknesses in treasurer's office.
BDO Seidman: Preparing the city's comprehensive annual financial report.
