Calvin Baker hit the game-winning three-pointer with 4.2 seconds remaining, and Sean Singletary scored 17 points in Virginia's 76-74 victory over Georgia Tech last night in Atlanta.

Georgia Tech led 74-73 after Jeremis Smith's reverse layin, but Singletary quickly dribbled up the floor and passed quickly to Baker on the right wing.

On Virginia's previous possession, Baker's putback of Singletary's missed reverse layup gave the Cavaliers (14-13, 4-10) a 73-72 lead, their first since the 4-minute 20-second mark.

Baker scored five of his 10 points in the final 29.1 seconds. The sophomore guard finished with seven rebounds.

Zack Peacock scored a career-high 23 points to lead Georgia Tech (12-16, 5-9 ACC), but his errant pass on the left baseline was stolen by Singletary and set up Baker's putback.

Moe Miller's three-point attempt at the buzzer fell off the rim to guarantee the Yellow Jackets' first losing home record at Alexander Memorial Coliseum since 1980-81.

The game was rescheduled from Feb. 21, when rain leaked through the roof and soaked part of the court.

KANSAS 109, TEXAS TECH 51: Russell Robinson's 15 points led the No. 5 Jayhawks in a thrashing of the Red Raiders, the second time in three games Texas Tech suffered the most lopsided loss in school history.

Texas Tech (16-13, 7-8 Big 12) -- and rookie coach Pat Knight -- lost 98-54 at Texas A&M last week, then the biggest loss in school history. In between the record losses, the Red Raiders upset then-No. 5 Texas 83-80, one of the program's biggest wins in several seasons.

For Kansas (27-3, 12-3), it was the biggest win in a conference game in that program's storied history.

The victory gave Kansas a 20-0 record at home, the 14th time the Jayhawks have been unbeaten in tradition-soaked Allen Fieldhouse.

NORFOLK STATE 54, HOWARD 52: Corey Lyons scored 14 points, including a game-tying three-pointer in the final minute, to lift the Spartans (15-13, 11-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) at Burr Gymnasium. The Bison, led by Eugene Myatt's 17 points, are 6-24, 3-12.

Women's Games

Renee Montgomery scored 21 points and Maya Moore added 19 to help top-ranked Connecticut beat No. 4 Rutgers, 66-46, last night and win the Big East regular season championship in front of a near-sellout crowd of 15,779 in Hartford, Conn.

Tina Charles added 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Huskies, who won their second straight Big East regular season championship and 13th in the last 15 seasons.

With the victory, Connecticut (29-1, 15-1) earned the top seed in the conference tournament that starts Saturday. Rutgers (24-5, 14-2) will be the No. 2 seed. Both teams have first-round byes and don't play until the quarterfinals on Sunday.

ST. JOHN'S 61, NOTRE DAME 51: Kia Wright scored 14 points and the Red Storm stunned the No. 9 Fighting Irish in New York, the second straight year St. John's (16-13, 7-9 Big East) upset a highly ranked Notre Dame team at its on-campus home. The Irish are 23-7, 11-5.

SYRACUSE 73, WEST VIRGINIA 51: In Syracuse, N.Y., freshman guard Erica Morrow scored a season-high 25 points as the Orange upset the No. 14 Mountaineers. Syracuse (22-7, 10-6), which had lost six straight to West Virginia (23-6, 12-4), improved to 13-2 at home.

PITTSBURGH 70, GEORGETOWN 33: The Hoyas shot just 20 percent in losing the regular season finale for both teams in Pittsburgh. Georgetown (15-14, 5-11 Big East) got nine points off the bench from Kristin Heidloff. The Panthers are 20-9, 10-6.

HOWARD 93, NORFOLK ST. 84: The Lady Bison improved to 4-24, 3-12 in the MEAC, helped by Asha Santee's 24 points at Burr Gymnasium. Tamaya Daniels added 23. The Spartans fell to 5-21, 1-14.
