¿ Travers Chandler & Avery County, a new touring band of seasoned professional musicians described by show organizers as playing in the style of pioneers of the Baltimore/D.C. bluegrass scene of the 1960s.

¿ Tom Mindte and the Patuxent Partners, a traditional group featuring the high lonesome bluegrass sound.

Tickets will be sold at the door, separately for the show and the dinner. For the music, tickets are $12. Children under 12 will be admitted free with a paid adult. Tickets for the dinner are $6 per person. The Legion hall is at the intersection of Routes 231 and 381.

Health Fair

The 32nd Calvert County Health Fair is scheduled at the Calvert Pines Senior Center on March 28 and 29, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Area health professionals will provide screenings and educational exhibits for adults 18 and older. Demonstrations will offer information on yoga, chiropractic and sleep disorders. Experts will answer questions on diabetes, general health and drugs.

Appointments are being accepted for free screenings for skin cancer, vascular disease and prostate cancer. An appointment is also needed for cholesterol testing with a metabolic screen, which costs $30 for a study of 13 substances found in the blood in addition to HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides and a glucose test. A blood type test and complete blood count cost $5 each.
