It all began in 1917 in Oklahoma. Wanting to raise money for troop activities, same as today, some Girl Scouts baked cookies at home -- with their moms' help -- and sold them.
In 1922, scouts across the nation started baking sugar cookies to sell door-to-door. By 1948, all of the cookies were made by baking companies.
